After some mid-season turmoil, Kobe, Shaq, and Phil lead the Lakers to a repeat, with one of the best playoff
performances ever.
2001-02
The Lakers' "Three-Peat" is a walk in the park as they cruise through the playoffs.
2002-03
MVP Tim Duncan leads the Spurs to their 2nd title in five years.
2003-04
The Detroit Pistons, coached by Larry Brown, dominate the heavily favored Lakers and their 4 future Hall-of-Famers.
2004-05
Tim Duncan is the MVP again as the Spurs take out Detroit in 7 games.
2005-06
DWade & Shaq lead the Miami Heat to their first championship over the upstart Dallas Mavericks.
2006-07
The Spurs become the most successful professional franchise in the last decade, by winning their 4th championship. It's LeBroom against James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
2007-08
Danny Ainge makes the big off-season move and the Celtics climb back to the top of the basketball world behind Kevin Garnett.
2008-09
Kobe proves he can win without Shaq. Lakers get their 15th title. Phil Jackson gets his 10th ring.
2009-10
Kobe is the MVP as the Lakers defeat the Celtics in a tough 7-game series.
2010-11
Lebron James, who joined Dwyane Wade & Chris Bosh in Miami, predicted the trio would win "at least 8 championships in a row." But the underdog Dallas Mavericks, lead by Dirk Nowitzki, shut down Wade and beat the Heat in 6.
2011-12
The 2nd time is the charm as the Miami Heat defeat the young Oklahoma City Thunder in the strike-shortened season.
2012-13
Two in a row for The Heat as they beat the Spurs in 7, in what many call the most exciting Finals of All-Time.
2013-14
The San Antonio Spurs proved again that basketball is a team sport by beating the Heat decisively in 5 games and winning their 5th title. The Spurs played, what many observers called, some of the best basketball in Finals history.

2014-15
Steve Kerr, who knows a lot about winning championships as a player, became the first rookie coach in 33 years to win it all, as the Golden State Warriors, lead by Stephen Curry and surprising hero Andre Iguodala beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in 6.

2015-16
It looked like Golden State would cruise to their 2nd straight title, but Lebron James & Kyrie Irving wouldn't let the Cavs lose. For the first time ever, a team comes back from 3-1 to win The Championship. Cleveland Cavaliers in 7. Lebron MVP.

2016-17
LeBron said the Warriors have 'the most firepower' he's ever seen. The addition of K.D. certainly helped put Golden State over-the-top as they dominated the Cavs in 5.

2017-18
The Golden State Warriors became the first team ever to go up 3 games to none in The Finals, in two consecutive seasons. LeBron & Cavs cruised through the East, but hit an immovable object in the Warriors and were swept easily. K.D. Finals MVP.

2018-19
We The North! All kinds of firsts, as the Toronto Raptors upset Golden State, who were without Kevin Durant. Kawhi Leonard officially became a superstar as he took the Raptors on his back to win in 6 games.

2019-20
In the strangest season ever, where the schedule was changed in the middle of the season, the Los Angeles Lakers prevailed.

2020-21
Giannis took over and lead the Bucks to their first championship in 50 years.

2021-22
Golden State, lead by Steph Curry, take the Celtics in 6.

2022-23
Nikola Jokic broke all kinds of playoff records as he lead the Denver Nuggets to their first championship in franchise history. They beat the Miami Heat handily in 5 games.
